On a sunny albeit cool Sunday mid-April afternoon, our players began the 2022 season with our opening gala. It was a great bit of fun and competition - a lovely opportunity to get back together and brush off those rusty outdoor skills.
All our members were delighted with the results of our clubhouse remodel – so much more space and light! - and the quality of the green. Spectators and players relaxed after play by tucking into a very impressive buffet provided by our volunteers, accompanied by a drink or two from the bar!
Match play started in earnest when we welcomed Cam Mills and Calne to our first couple of friendlies and Chepstow for a midweek triples game. And our ladies and men’s teams participated in practice evenings in preparation for their respective league matches. If you’d like to watch any of the home games, check the Diary on our website to see what’s on!
A lot will be happening throughout May, including our junior coaching sessions beginning on Sunday the 8th of May at 10am, the start of the men’s leagues, a visit from Marldon Bowls Club as part of their Cotswolds Tour, plus we’ll be playing the early rounds of several internal club competitions. And, on the 29th of May, we’ll once again be participating in the national Bowls’ Big Weekend starting at noon. This is another opportunity to try your hand at bowls and get a taste for this doable, sociable sport!
In June, we are planning a 'group day', so if you, your family, friends, workmates, or any community group would like to spend a fun morning or afternoon giving lawn bowls a go, email us at tetburybowls@gmail.com and we’ll see what we can arrange!
